I was reading about the tragic loss of Jose Luis Flores-Vargas and Alejandro Ramirez on Sunrise Street, and one detail that really struck me was how officers were alerted so quickly by the ShotSpotter technology. It makes me think about how crucial it is for cities to invest in such systems to potentially save lives and respond swiftly to violent incidents. But it also serves as a stark reminder that while technology can alert us to a crime, it can't prevent it. My heart genuinely goes out to the families affected. It's devastating to know that these violent acts continue to impact communities like Salinas. I really hope that with the arrests made and the ongoing legal proceedings, it brings some sense of justice and peace to the victims’ families. It must be incredibly difficult to deal with the loss and I hope the community rallies around them in support.
