On October 16, 2008, 52-year-old Michael Roderick was found dead inside his Eastern Avenue home in Augusta, Maine. A friend who had been in contact with him earlier that day discovered the scene and called authorities. The Maine State Police took over the investigation and announced they were treating the death as a homicide; an autopsy was performed but the cause of death was not released publicly.

Roderick had lived in the 1 1/2-story brown clapboard house for more than two decades. He was disabled after a work fall in 1981, had more recently worked as a worm digger, and was described by authorities as a convicted sex offender who had a reputation as a drug dealer. Detectives conducted more than 100 interviews and asked the public to report any unusual activity near his property, but the case later went cold. No suspects or arrests have been announced.

If anyone saw anything unusual near Eastern Avenue around October 16, 2008, or knew Roderick’s acquaintances, please share what you know.
