Lindsay Elaine McCollum, 27, was shot and killed on December 18, 2016, in San Francisco’s Mission District. She and another person, Eddie Tennessee Tate, were found dead near 16th Street and South Van Ness Avenue where they had been living in a wooden box used as makeshift shelter. Lindsay’s pit bull, Lily, was found with her and covered in her blood.
Lindsay had struggled with heroin addiction and mental illness and had been living on and off the streets for about three years before her death. Her mother, Carrie McCollum, says Lindsay loved animals, danced, played piano, enjoyed reading, and had led library trips while in a substance rehab program. The San Francisco Police Department has authorized a $200,000 reward for information leading to identification, arrest, and conviction; a composite sketch of a person of interest was released and no arrests have been made. Carrie has offered a $5,000 reward and posted signs near the scene.
Anyone who knew Lindsay or has information about that night is asked to come forward.
