Frances Moulton, 27, was last seen by family in July 2006 getting on the back of a motorcycle while living a transient lifestyle around Sanford, Maine. Two months of silence prompted a missing persons report in September 2006. Friends and family remembered her as smart, funny, and selfless.
On June 23, 2009, investigators acting on a tip searched a property on Creamery Hill Road in Lebanon, Maine and recovered human remains from the bottom of a well; divers retrieved a decomposing torso identified as Moulton. Authorities stated she was the victim of a homicide but did not publicly release a specific cause of death.
In December 2009, 22-year-old Robert Copley, who had lived on Creamery Hill Road, was arrested and charged with her murder; a relative reportedly said Copley had confessed. He was held without bail. In August 2011 prosecutors dropped the murder charges, saying they believed Copley had witnessed the killing but was not the killer. The case remains unsolved.
Does anyone with information about Creamery Hill Road activity in 2006–2009 have tips for investigators?
