Brian Allen, a 46-year-old White male, was found dead on the morning of July 15, 2005, in the bed of a trailer where he had been staying near a blueberry field in Orland, Maine. His brother Larry Allen discovered the body; investigators later confirmed Brian had been shot and the death was ruled a homicide.
At the scene a .22 caliber bolt-action rifle with a scope was found leaning against the wall near the head of the cot, and a half-full can of beer sat on the floor beside it. Detectives noted the rifle’s position appeared deliberate, as if placed rather than fallen. The Maine State Police assigned seven detectives full-time to the case initially and searched nearby waterways and an irrigation pond, and set up a roadblock on Route 15 to interview hundreds of drivers, but those efforts produced no new evidence.
No arrests have ever been made and the case remains unsolved. If anyone knew Brian, worked at G.M. Allen, or saw anything suspicious in Orland between the evening of July 14 and the morning of July 15, please come forward with information.
