Thomas F. Napier, 22, was found dead February 20, 1994, his body floating in the Saco River near the Maine Energy Recovery Plant. An autopsy ruled drowning the cause of death, and investigators have classified the death as a homicide. Thomas had been living with his grandparents and, by many accounts, was turning his life around — attending church, holding a job, and taking pride in his 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass after a troubled adolescence that included time in foster care and a prior jail sentence for assault.
Thomas disappeared the night of Friday, October 29, 1993, which kicked off Halloween weekend. He left home planning to attend a party in Biddeford that was reportedly canceled; later that night he may have been involved in a fight in the backyard of an apartment complex at 24 Bradley Street in Saco. His Oldsmobile was found abandoned in that complex’s parking lot. Family and friends searched for nearly four months before his body was recovered.
No arrests have been announced and no specific suspects have been publicly named. The altercation on Bradley Street remains a key unresolved detail. Did anyone who was at the party or at 24 Bradley Street that night see Thomas or know what happened afterward?
