On August 14, 2016, the body of Kimberly Harvill was discovered by a motorist along Gorman Post Road, north of California State Route 138 in Lebec, California. Harvill had been shot and found lying in the brush; investigators linked her killing to a broader criminal conspiracy involving multiple people.
Authorities identified Joshua Robertson and Alex Valdez as primary suspects. The investigation says Robertson, together with Harvill’s half-sister Brittney Sue Humphrey, kidnapped Harvill’s three young children, then ages 5, 3, and 2; the children were later found abandoned in a motel in New Mexico. Robertson and Humphrey were apprehended in Colorado, and Valdez was arrested in Fresno. Harvill’s murder was tied to her being a witness to a shooting in Fresno involving Robertson and Valdez that occurred days earlier.
Robertson entered a no contest plea to first-degree murder, three counts of kidnapping, two counts of arson and other charges, and was immediately sentenced to life without parole. Valdez was found guilty of first-degree murder, a jury found true a special circumstance alleging he killed a witness, and he received life without parole. Humphrey pleaded no contest to three counts of kidnapping and was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Are there readers who knew Kimberly or have information about the events leading up to her death?
