Brian S. Kowalczyk, 34, was found murdered in his Winthrop, Maine, geodesic dome home on November 6, 1986. His wife, Leeanne, had been in New York looking for a new home and reported him missing when she could not reach him by phone. Officers discovered signs of a violent struggle but no obvious forced entry, suggesting Brian may have known his attacker or was taken by surprise.
He had been shot at eight times, one round making contact, and then stabbed repeatedly in the head, chest, and abdomen. Items of value, including a Rolex and cash and checks, were left at the scene; the only thing reported missing was his wallet, which was never recovered. Hundreds of people were interviewed over the years and many leads pursued, but no arrests or publicly identified suspects have been announced.
Who knew Brian, his routines, or who might have had access to that house on the night of November 6, 1986?
