Maher Yousef, 24, was fatally shot on July 1, 2016, at about 10:30 p.m. while sitting in his car at a Mobil station in Buena Park. Three armed men approached him and demanded money; a struggle followed and one of the assailants shot Yousef in the head at close range. He was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center and died shortly after arrival.
Buena Park police treated the incident as a robbery and released surveillance images showing the suspects fleeing on foot. They described the three as African American males in their 20s: one about 5 feet 10 inches with a heavy build in a brown hoodie and checkered shirt; one about 6 feet 2 inches with a shaved head and possible facial hair in a striped V-neck; and one about 5 feet 8 inches, thin, in a dark hoodie. Detectives also considered that Yousef might have been followed because he worked at a check-cashing business.
If anyone saw activity near the Mobil that night or recognizes the men in the surveillance images, please share information with detectives.
