Alexander Ameme, 48, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of April 20, 2016, in the laundry room of an apartment complex near South Los Angeles. Deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the 1700 block of West 125th Street around 2 a.m. and found Ameme with fatal gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined he had been shot multiple times and treated the attack as targeted. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department led the investigation, canvassing the area, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing surveillance footage from the complex and nearby locations. No arrests were made immediately and the shooter remained at large.
Residents raised concerns about security at the apartment complex, urging better lighting and surveillance; management faced scrutiny and possible legal action over alleged inadequate security. Detectives continue to follow leads and ask anyone with information to come forward.
If anyone knew Alexander or has information about the shooting, please share what you know with investigators.
