Brandi Ann Acosta, 24, of Huntington Park, California, was shot and killed on April 12, 2016, according to Los Angeles County coroner records. She was a mother of two: daughter Lyanne, then 2, and son Maximus, then 6 months. After Brandi’s death the children were placed in state custody.

In the months after her death the family began a petition demanding that the Department of Children and Family Services honor their due process rights and reunite the children with relatives, citing difficulty gaining custody.

Anyone with information about Brandi’s death or the whereabouts of Lyanne and Maximus at the time after April 12, 2016, is asked to share what they know.
