Dr. Weidong Henry Han, 57, his wife Huijie Jennie Yu, and their five-year-old daughter Emily Han were found murdered in their Greenhill Way home between Santa Barbara and Goleta on March 23, 2016. Concerned colleagues checked the residence after Dr. Han missed a business meeting and did not answer calls. The three bodies were discovered wrapped in plastic and duct-taped in the garage, each sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Investigators arrested 26-year-old business associate Pierre Haobsh two days later at a San Diego County gas station and charged him with three counts of first-degree murder. Authorities portrayed the killings as financially motivated and linked to a business transaction between Haobsh and Dr. Han. At trial Haobsh was convicted, with the court applying enhancements for murder for financial gain, multiple murders, and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury, and received three life terms without parole.
Dr. Han was a longtime herbalist who ran the Santa Barbara Herb Clinic since 1991 and had authored several books. The community was deeply affected by the brutality and apparent calculation of the crime. Did anyone who knew the Han family or their business notice unusual interactions or disputes in the months before March 2016?
