In the early morning of May 22, 2019, 33-year-old Ronnie Jacobs Jr. was found unresponsive in the 8700 block of Rhode Island Avenue in College Park, Maryland. Officers arrived about 6 a.m.; Jacobs had sustained upper-body trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined he had been shot.
At the time he was experiencing homelessness and was often seen sleeping on a nearby park bench. Neighbors who knew him told police he didn’t bother anyone, and investigators have described the killing as appearing to be random. The Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit canvassed the area and offered up to a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
If anyone who lived or worked in that neighborhood in May 2019 has information that could help, contact the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
