Dawn McEveety was 19 and living in Huntington Beach when she was fatally shot on November 24, 2015. Reports say the shooting happened in the detached garage of a residence in Artesia identified as a gang hangout; Dawn, known as Molly, had no gang ties and was described as in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her body was hidden in an ice chest and was discovered five days later, on November 29, 2015, in the rear cargo area of an abandoned 1991 Toyota Celica in Whittier after deputies opened the vehicle and smelled decomposition.

Anthony Robert Moreno, described as a known gang member, was arrested while already serving time for an unrelated crime and charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Prosecutors said Moreno intentionally fired a gun causing great bodily injury and death and that the killing was committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang. A jury found him guilty and he was sentenced to 50 years to life. Family members, including her mother Maura McEveety-Sepa and father Michael Sepa, testified about the impact of her loss.

Did anyone in the Artesia or Whittier area at the time see activity around an abandoned 1991 Toyota Celica or the garage where Dawn was shot?
