Cesar Perez Mendoza was 14 and a freshman at Selma High School when he was shot and killed on the morning of September 12, 2015. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds on a sidewalk near Nebraska and Thompson avenues, outside his family’s apartment, as he was on his way to Saturday school. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno and died later that night.
The Selma Police Department opened an investigation and interviewed Cesar’s friends and associates, but no motive, arrests, or suspect descriptions have been released. The Selma Unified School District offered counseling to students and staff, and the community organized support for the family, including a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses. Few details are public about who was responsible or why this happened.
If anyone knew Cesar, saw activity near Nebraska and Thompson avenues that morning, or has information that could help solve this killing, please share what is known.
