Frankie A. Rodriguez was 24 when he was killed in a drive-by shooting on July 30, 2015, in front of his father’s house in Cutler, California. He had just returned from visiting his baby daughter in the hospital when gunfire erupted; his girlfriend, Yesena Morales, heard five shots and found him gravely wounded. He died of his injuries, leaving his family and community in mourning.
Investigators identified 21-year-old Fernando Prado as the shooter; he was arrested a few weeks after the killing and charged with first-degree murder. Prosecutors said the shooting was gang-related and connected to other acts of street terrorism and a separate shooting. Prado pleaded guilty the following August and was later sentenced to 65 years to life in April 2018. Frankie's family remained focused on locating and holding others involved, including the getaway driver, whose sentencing was still pending.
If anyone knew Frankie, saw activity outside his father’s house that night, or has information about the getaway vehicle, please come forward.
