Paul Bryant, 29, of Oroville, California, was found with gunshot wounds on Lincoln Boulevard late on July 18, 2015. He was taken to a local hospital and died shortly after; the Butte County Sheriff’s Office identified the death as a homicide and opened an urgent search for suspects.
Investigators initially focused on 45-year-old Carlos Carias Sr., who turned himself in on the morning of July 20, 2015. During questioning Carias provided information that led police to 39-year-old Duarte Manuel Gonsalves, who was found near a makeshift shelter in a field on the west end of Jefferson Street in Oroville. Gonsalves was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant and booked on a murder charge.
The case proceeded to trial in Butte County Superior Court on a single count of murder. The prosecution presented evidence linking Gonsalves to the shooting while the defense challenged evidence and witness testimony. Does anyone have information about Paul’s movements in Oroville on July 18, 2015, or about the locations mentioned?
