Erik Glen Ozee was 16 when he was shot and killed on the night of May 31, 2015, in the 5600 block of Skyridge Drive in Orangevale, California. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene after he was found in front of a home with a gunshot wound. Witnesses at a gathering reported hearing multiple shots, and neighbors recalled rapid gunfire followed by a final shot. Erik did not live at the residence where he was found.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department opened an investigation and interviewed witnesses and processed the scene. On June 1, 2015, authorities arrested 18-year-old Mario Andreas Contreras and booked him on a murder charge; investigators said they did not believe the shooting was random.
