Trevor Mark Harrison, a 38-year-old resident of Arcata, California, was shot and killed on May 9, 2015, during a marijuana transaction at his mother Kay Haug’s home. Witnesses said Billy Joe Giddings immediately produced a gun and shot Harrison as Harrison tried to stop Robert Louis Huntzinger from forcing his way through the front door. Kimberly Steele, described as the marijuana broker involved in the sale, was present but later could not be located to testify; she was also one of the people Giddings threatened with a firearm.
Giddings was arrested and tried on charges including second-degree murder. At trial the defense claimed Giddings acted in self-defense, saying Harrison was armed and pointing a gun, but the jury rejected that claim and convicted Giddings. The sentence reported at trial totaled decades to life behind bars. Huntzinger was acquitted of charges related to Harrison’s death. Haug and a friend, Demian Clearwater Starlight, testified that they began disposing of processed marijuana from a back bedroom immediately after the shooting.
Does anyone have additional information about the people present that night or about Kimberly Steele’s whereabouts at the time of the trial?
