Hallie Jay Beaver, 79, known as Toby, was shot and killed in his trailer home in Isleton, California, on February 15, 2015. His wife Leona, who had been married to him for 56 years, was awakened by gunshots and found him on the floor. Toby was described as well regarded in the small community and had a friendly relationship with the family of the man involved.
According to accounts, the shooting followed a family dispute: Toby noticed bruising on his son’s face and went to confront a man named Jeremy at Jeremy’s home. During that confrontation Jeremy allegedly shot Toby. Jeremy was taken into custody but released shortly afterward while the district attorney’s office reviewed the case; authorities cited insufficient evidence at the time and noted self-defense was a possible consideration.
The community and Toby’s family were left awaiting the DA’s decision and seeking closure. If anyone knew Hallie Toby Beaver, his family, or saw events in Isleton around February 15, 2015, please share what might help the investigation.
