Jason Carlos Reyes was 15 when he was fatally shot on November 26, 2014, while riding his bicycle near the fire station at Airport Boulevard and Ross Avenue in Watsonville, California. The shooting happened about 6:20 p.m.; nearby firefighters heard the gunfire and began lifesaving efforts, but Reyes died en route to the hospital. A memorial of roses, candles and balloons was placed at the scene.
Police determined Reyes had admitted gang membership and said they believed the killing was gang-related. Officers were already responding to another shooting that day and expressed concern about possible retaliation. Investigators reported only loose leads and limited witness cooperation, making it difficult to identify suspects.
The homicide was one of eight in Watsonville during 2014, six of them described as gang-related. Did anyone who knew Jason or who was in that neighborhood that evening see something that could help solve the case?
