Nestor Cruz-Ciriaco, 27, of Seaside, California, died after an officer-involved shooting on November 22, 2014. Seaside police had responded to a domestic disturbance at his home on the 1600 block of Laguna Street. Officers encountered Cruz-Ciriaco allegedly holding a weapon and a child; during the confrontation one officer fired. He was taken to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and later died of his injuries.
The officer was placed on administrative leave and separate investigations were opened by the Seaside Police Department and the Monterey County District Attorney to determine whether lethal force and procedures were justified. The case drew attention from the community and civil rights groups, including LULAC, amid concerns about the number of officer-involved shootings in Monterey County that year.
If anyone knew Cruz-Ciriaco, was present that night, or has information about the events at the Laguna Street residence, please share what is known.
