Daneyal Mohammad Siddique, 40, was fatally shot on October 22, 2014, while staying at the Dean Creek Resort in Redway, California. Deputies responded to a report of a gunshot about 12:15 a.m. and found Siddique with a single gunshot wound to the chest; bystanders and medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say Siddique had an argument outside his motel room with 40-year-old Jason Armstrong of Dumas, Texas, who had recently moved to the area. The confrontation escalated when Armstrong returned armed with a semi-automatic handgun. A struggle occurred as Siddique tried to disarm him; Armstrong is reported to have maintained control of the weapon and shot Siddique once in the chest. Armstrong was arrested at the scene after surrendering to deputies and booked on suspicion of murder with bail set at $1 million.
This was the third homicide the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was investigating in the Southern Humboldt and Shelter Cove area that week. If anyone was at Dean Creek Resort that night or witnessed the confrontation, please share what was seen with investigators.
