Four-year-old Jaelyn Marie Zavala of Watsonville, California, was killed on October 10, 2014, when a stray bullet struck her in the back office of her family’s restaurant near the Fish House Bar & Grill on Main Street. A large fight and gun battle erupted that evening; Jaelyn was reportedly wrapped in the arms of a bartender who was trying to comfort her when she was hit. She was taken to Watsonville Community Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The shooting was linked to a confrontation between Norteño gang members and former Sureño member Ramon Rendon, who was also killed that night after being shot multiple times, and two active Sureños. Authorities arrested two suspects: Michael Escobar, 31, of Salinas, was charged in connection with the deaths and later convicted on all counts after a trial with more than thirty-five witnesses; Marcos Robles was extradited from Mexico and ultimately accepted a plea that resulted in a long prison term. The community was profoundly affected by the death of an innocent child.

Does anyone have memories of that area or information about the night that could add detail to the timeline?
