Oscar Saul Ocampo, 29, was shot and killed on the night of September 16, 2014, while driving past a home invasion on Newark Avenue just north of Corcoran, California. The Kings County Sheriff’s Office reports several masked, armed men forced their way into the residence around 10 p.m., ordered occupants to lie face down and tried to steal money and drugs. A neighbor who intervened was also shot during the attack.
Investigators found the house was linked to a marijuana grow operation; the Kings County Narcotic Task Force seized all cannabis at the property. Witness statements and scene evidence led to arrests in the case, including Ramon Avila, 19, of Madera, on suspicion of homicide, attempted homicide and robbery, and later the detention of five men from Madera tied to the shooting. Charges of homicide and robbery were filed as the Kings County agencies worked the case.
Does anyone have information about the events on Newark Avenue that night or about Oscar Saul Ocampo’s movements in Corcoran?
