Gildardo Morales, 48, was fatally shot on August 21, 2014, in Pacoima in the San Fernando Valley. Morales was found dead in his truck while on his way to work early that morning. His killing was part of a series of apparently random shootings that terrorized the San Fernando Valley during that period.
Alexander Hernandez of Sylmar was later charged in Morales’s murder. Investigators linked Hernandez to a months-long spree that left five people dead and seven others injured; many victims were shot while in their vehicles or going about daily routines. Prosecutors said Hernandez sometimes fired from a vehicle marked with distinctive stickers, including a white skull and the numerals 666, and in some cases stalked victims before opening fire with a shotgun. Reports described no discernible motive for the attacks.
If anyone knew Morales or remembers seeing suspicious vehicles or activity in Pacoima on August 21, 2014, contact investigators who worked the case.
