Robert Limon, a 38-year-old railroad worker, was ambushed and shot twice at his workplace in Tehachapi, California, on August 17, 2014. The fatal shot struck his head, and he died at the scene. The crime was initially staged to look like a botched robbery, but investigators later determined it had been planned.

Detectives uncovered that Robert’s wife, Sabrina Limon, and her lover, Jonathan Hearn, a former firefighter, conspired to kill him. Sabrina and Hearn had an affair that began in 2012; Sabrina provided Hearn with Robert’s work schedule and details about the workplace. Hearn admitted to shooting Robert and testified that the murder was planned. The investigation revealed an earlier failed poisoning attempt involving pudding and cited financial motive, including an expected $300,000 life insurance payout to Sabrina.

In October 2017, a jury found Sabrina Limon guilty of first-degree murder; she received a sentence of 25 years to life. Jonathan Hearn, who had accepted a plea deal and testified against Sabrina, received 25 years and four months.
