Bryan Morris Hoskins Sr, 60, was fatally shot at his Woodland, California home on the evening of August 3, 2014. He was found by police lying on the kitchen floor with a single gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene despite paramedic efforts. A long-time Woodland resident and employee of the Yolo County Probation Department, he grew up in Sacramento and graduated from Hiram Johnson High School.
His wife, Susan Hoskins, called 911 and reported she had shot him, saying she had been verbally abused. The case record describes a history of domestic violence in the marriage; Susan’s defense contended she acted in self-defense during a violent altercation. She was initially charged with first- and second-degree murder and an unlawful firearm enhancement, then pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and personal use of a firearm and received a four-year prison sentence with credit for time served.
Did anyone in Woodland know Bryan or the Hoskins family and have details about the relationship or events that led up to that night?
