Joe L. Cisneros-Carrillo, 23, of Montclair, California, was found dead on July 15, 2014, near bushes on the side of the street in the 9600 block of Exeter Avenue after neighbors reported multiple gunshots early that morning. Officers located him with several gunshot wounds to his chest; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported a red or burgundy car, possibly a Chevrolet Camaro, fleeing the area. Detectives later connected that vehicle description to a car owned by Cisneros-Carrillo’s girlfriend, Karen Taylor. Taylor, her friend Larry Oswalt, and Taylor’s 17-year-old son were located at a nearby motel. All three initially denied involvement but admitted being at the scene; their statements conflicted. Investigators say the three had planned to assault Cisneros-Carrillo, that Oswalt allegedly shot him multiple times, and that the group fled, changed clothes, and hid the gun. Police later recovered the weapon and arrested Taylor, Oswalt, and Taylor’s juvenile son on suspicion of homicide.

Does anyone in the area remember hearing those early-morning shots or seeing a red or burgundy Camaro on Exeter Avenue that day?
