Salvador Cendejas, 22, of Nuevo, California, was shot and killed on April 16, 2014, after a confrontation in which he and another man reportedly threw trash from their car onto the street. That dispute escalated when Jaime Lopez called for backup and his brother-in-law, David Gonzalez, arrived armed. Witnesses said Lopez and Gonzalez chased Cendejas and the other man through a yard; the second man escaped, but Cendejas sought refuge in a nearby home and was fatally shot there.
Both Lopez and Gonzalez were arrested and tried. A jury found Jaime Lopez guilty of second-degree murder on October 5, 2015. Evidence at trial showed Lopez had summoned Gonzalez, and Gonzalez, who fired the fatal shot, was convicted of first-degree murder on October 7, 2015. On December 18, 2015, Gonzalez was sentenced to 75 years to life in state prison and Lopez received a lengthy prison term.
Are there details from that April 2014 confrontation or the neighborhood that anyone remembers and can share?
