Yunyi Zhang, 45, was found dead on March 14, 2014, in her Castro Valley home. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office says Zhang died of gunshot wounds; investigators report she was shot twice by her husband, Feng Mi, at their Stanton Avenue residence. Their 14-year-old daughter discovered the body in the master bedroom closet after returning from school.

Feng Mi, then 45, did not surrender immediately; his whereabouts were unknown until he turned himself in to a California State University East Bay police officer three days later. He admitted knowing about an arrest warrant but declined to speak with investigators. Alameda County prosecutors charged him with murder and a weapons enhancement; two daughters, ages 14 and 8, were placed in protective custody. Deputies had responded previously to multiple reports of domestic violence at the home, and Mi had two guns registered in his name.

Does anyone have information about the family, the neighborhood, or the earlier domestic violence reports that could shed light on what happened?
