On July 28, 2012, 23-year-old Hector Daniel Reyes was shot to death inside a house on Railroad Avenue in San Ardo, California. Reyes and another man, Daniel Fraga, were found shot to death after a meeting of the Sureno gang that had been called to discuss a ritual beating of a juvenile member. Reyes, who was the cousin of the beaten girl, had accompanied Fraga to the meeting to try to rescue her.
Salazar fled to Mexico with an underage girlfriend, Eunice Serrato, prompting a statewide Amber Alert; he later surrendered at the U.S.-Mexico border and was charged with two counts of first-degree murder with gang and gun enhancements. Salazar was sentenced in December 2014 to 100 years to life. The gang leader Lopez was also convicted in connection with the killings, found guilty of second-degree murder with gang enhancements and faces additional time for ordering the juvenile beating.
If anyone knew Hector Daniel Reyes, his movements that day, or has information about the meeting on Railroad Avenue, please share what is known.
