Robert Lindsay, 53, was killed December 16, 2011, in a mass shooting at the Southern California Edison office in Irwindale, California. The attack occurred about 1:30 p.m. when co-worker Andre Turner opened fire with a semi-automatic handgun and targeted specific individuals, particularly managers. Lindsay and another manager, Robert Serrano, were killed; two other employees, Angela Alvarez and Abhay Pimpale, were critically injured.
The shooter reportedly had financial troubles, including a house facing foreclosure, had been verbally reprimanded at work, and was said to be unhappy with management. On the day of the attack he told some people to leave while deliberately shooting others, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department interviewed employees to reconstruct events. Southern California Edison later conducted an internal audit and set up a fund for victims’ families.
What details about Robert Lindsay’s life or role at the company might help explain why he was targeted?
