Kruze Levusi Kuaea, 22, of Calimesa, California, was fatally shot shortly after 1:30 a.m. on November 19, 2011, outside Charlie Jewell’s bar in Redlands. A fight that began inside the bar spilled onto the street after several men were removed by security. Moments later gunfire erupted; Kuaea and two other men were shot. Kuaea died of his injuries shortly after the shooting and the other victims were taken to a nearby hospital.

The Redlands Police Department sought the public’s help identifying a suspect described by witnesses as a Hispanic male in his early 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches and 150 pounds, and released surveillance footage of the fight. Despite those appeals, the case produced no immediate arrests or clear leads, leaving the investigation unresolved.

Kuaea’s funeral at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary in Colton drew hundreds of mourners; family and friends remembered him as joyful and fun-loving and his mother, Maricia McLendon, publicly pleaded for justice. If anyone has information about the shooting, please come forward to authorities.
