Leopoldo Duke Anaya, 19, of Alhambra, was shot and killed on October 29, 2011, near Winchester and Concord avenues in Alhambra. Officers responding to reports of shots just after midnight found shell casings at the scene; shortly afterward Anaya was brought to County-USC Medical Center by two friends in a Ford Explorer and was pronounced dead of a single gunshot wound to the torso.
Police described the incident as apparently gang-related and consistent with a car-to-car drive-by. Investigators say shots were exchanged between the Ford Explorer carrying Anaya and a black Honda sedan after a Halloween party Anaya and his friends had attended. One friend fled the hospital while the driver remained and was questioned. Authorities have been searching for the black Honda and no arrests have been reported; the case remains unsolved.
Anyone who was near Winchester and Concord avenues that night or who has information about the black Honda or the people involved is asked to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
