Ichinkhorloo Iko Bayarsaikhan was 15 when she was shot dead on October 31, 2007, at Washington Park in Alameda, California. She had emigrated from Mongolia with her family about three years earlier and was spending Halloween night with friends when a group of six youths from Oakland approached them intending to commit a robbery. During the attempted robbery Quochuy Tony Tran fired a .22-caliber rifle; Iko was struck in the back and was pronounced dead at Highland Hospital in Oakland shortly afterward.

Legal proceedings resulted in Quochuy Tran, then 16, being tried as an adult, convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 50 years to life. Five other juveniles involved were convicted of murder in Juvenile Court. The case drew attention locally to juvenile violence and how the justice system treats youths charged in violent crimes.
