Eric James Andrews was 18 and living in Temecula, California, when he died on February 28, 2006. Born in Placentia, he had spent about 11 years in Riverside and Corona and was noted for achievements in computer technology at Arlington High School.
On the day he died Eric was experiencing a mental health crisis; his mother, Holly Fallon, had called 911 after Eric’s girlfriend reported he was in distress. When Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded, a confrontation occurred and Eric was shot by the officers. No arrests or criminal charges were filed against the officers involved.
The family, including his mother, has spoken about their grief and pushed for changes in how law enforcement handles mental health emergencies. Does anyone have information about Eric’s case or about reforms pursued locally after this shooting?
