Kenneth Wayne Hilscher, 36, was last seen April 8, 1995, in Bloomington, Texas. A beloved coach and teacher at Bloomington High School who had grown up in the community, he visited his parents’ home on Black Bayou Road #2 that day. His father invited him to stay; Hilscher left instead and never returned.
On April 10 his father reported him missing. Searchers that day found bloodstained clothing — a t-shirt and men’s underwear — near Old Bloomington Road about 1.5 miles from Hilscher’s residence. Blood testing indicated the stains were likely Hilscher’s, and investigators concluded from the blood pattern on the garments that he had probably been shot multiple times. No body has been recovered and the case is classified as a homicide but remains unsolved.
The disappearance had a profound effect on the small community where Hilscher coached and taught. Did anyone in Bloomington at the time see or hear anything that could help explain what happened that weekend?
