Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the Santana High School shooting case, and I came across something that really struck a chord with me. It's about Randy Gordon’s dream of joining the Navy. It’s just so incredibly sad to think that this young man, who had such clear aspirations and was actively working towards them with his involvement in the Civil Air Patrol, had his future taken away in such a senseless act. It's remarkable to learn about all the ways he was trying to make a difference even at such a young age—being part of the track team, staying on top of his academics, and putting in hours volunteering. It puts into perspective not just what was lost that day in terms of lives, but also the potential impact these individuals could have had in the world. It’s heart-wrenching to think of the void left in his family’s life and the dreams that were never realized. I can't imagine the burden his mother, Mari Gordon-Rayborn, must carry, dealing with losing a son, and then having to navigate the aftermath of such an event with all its personal and public layers. If anyone knows of any current ways to support her or efforts in place to commemorate Randy and the others who were impacted, please share. We need to keep talking about them and the broader issues of safety and support in schools, so that we’re honoring their memory meaningfully. Sending thoughts to all those affected every day by this tragedy.

Hi everyone, I’ve been reading through some of the older threads about the Santana High School shooting and wanted to share something that's been on my mind. I came across Randy Gordon’s involvement with the Civil Air Patrol, and it really struck me how dedicated he was to serving and giving back, even at such a young age. It’s clear he had a bright future ahead, including dreams of joining the Navy. Randy's commitment to making a difference in his community is a legacy in itself, and it's just incredibly moving to see how he was already contributing positively to the world. For the community, and especially for his family, to hold onto these memories must bring both pain and pride. It's important that we continue to remember Randy not just as a victim, but for the life he was leading and the one he intended to lead. Thinking of Mari Gordon-Rayborn and keeping her in my thoughts as she navigates the immense loss and challenges she’s faced since then. Love and light to the whole community as they continue to honor Randy and all the lives forever changed that day.
