Seven-year-old Austin Eubanks was one of four children killed in San Marcos, California, on October 26, 1996. His mother, Susan Eubanks, shot Brandon Armstrong, 14; Austin, 7; Brigham Eubanks, 6; and Matthew Eubanks, 4, in the head that night. Susan Eubanks then shot herself in the stomach, survived, and was arrested and charged in the killings.
Susan Eubanks was convicted and originally sentenced to death in 1999; the California Supreme Court upheld that sentence. Over the years her legal team pursued appeals and petitions raising issues about the original trial, including claims of ineffective assistance of counsel and improper jury instructions. In October 2024 she was re-sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
If anyone knew Austin or the family, or has information about the events of October 26, 1996, please share what you can.
