Brigham Reno Dale Eubanks was six years old when he was killed at his San Marcos home on October 26, 1997. He and his three brothers — Brandon Armstrong, 14; Austin Eubanks, 7; and Matthew Eubanks, 4 — were all shot in the head. Their mother, Susan Eubanks, then shot herself in the stomach and survived.

Susan Eubanks was arrested and charged in the deaths of the four children. She was convicted of first-degree murder in 1999 and sentenced to death. The family’s loss prompted years of appeals and legal challenges. In 2024 she was re-sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, resolving ongoing appellate petitions.
