Kimmy Jones, 34, was one of three men executed inside a Corcoran residence on January 20, 1996. Jones, Cesar Burgueno, 33, and Charles Shields, 24, were each shot twice in the head at close range; the placement of the wounds and the lack of any sign the victims could escape or defend themselves led investigators to describe the deaths as having the characteristics of an execution.

Investigators examined Jones’s reported history with narcotics and considered whether the killings were retaliation or related to a drug dispute. Detectives looked for links between this triple homicide and a five-person, close-range slaying at Pato’s Place about six months earlier. Attention later focused on brothers Donald Ray Young and Timothy James Young after a man identified as Michael Horbert told police he had driven the brothers to the Corcoran home and others supplied information tying Donald Young to firearms. Charges in the Corcoran case were eventually dismissed and no one was convicted of the three deaths.
