Tammy A. Vincent was 17 when she was murdered after leaving her home in Okanogan County, Washington. She was last seen in Seattle on September 10, 1979, getting into a silver Lincoln Continental owned by one of her employers. Her body was found by joggers on September 26, 1979, on a beach at Blackie’s Pasture in Tiburon; she had been stabbed more than 40 times with an ice pick, burned with acetone, and shot in the head.
Tammy had been a runaway involved in prostitution and racketeering and had agreed to testify against her employers in exchange for immunity. Investigators say she was relocated from SeaTac to Spokane for her safety but was later tracked down by a lawyer for the defendants and handed over to his clients. It is reported she was taken to California and put to work at the Palace Theater in San Francisco’s Tenderloin.
Her remains went unidentified for decades until DNA comparisons with samples from her mother and sister confirmed her identity in 2007; the Marin County Sheriff’s Office reopened the case in 2001 and obtained a full DNA profile in 2006. No one has been brought to justice and the investigation remains open. Did anyone who knew Tammy in 1979 or who worked around the Palace Theater or the Woolworth’s see her or recall that purchase?
