Don Rose, a resident of Tuolumne, California, died on August 10, 1979. Investigators determined his death was not from natural causes and treated it as a homicide, prompting inquiries by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.
Over the years the investigation produced a number of leads and suspects and several people were questioned, but conflicting witness statements and a lack of concrete evidence prevented any arrests. Periodic attempts to revive the probe occurred as new information surfaced occasionally, but the passage of time and degrading evidence slowed progress and the case went cold.
The circumstances of Don Rose’s death and the identity of his killer remain unresolved. If anyone knew Don Rose, his movements in Tuolumne around August 1979, or has information that could help, please come forward.
