When I first heard about John Mayeski's tragic story, it struck a chord with me. It's terrifying to think about how such violence and cruelty can permeate everyday places like a restaurant parking lot. I can’t even begin to imagine the anguish that John’s family and friends must have felt during the years of legal battles. The fact that this dragged on for so long must have been incredibly taxing on them emotionally. It really makes you think about how such a young life, full of potential and dreams, was taken so abruptly and senselessly. I hope that with the eventual execution of Harris, those impacted were able to find some semblance of peace, although I know nothing can truly fill the void left behind. Sending good thoughts to everyone who has been affected by this tragedy.
