Marietta DiGirolamo, 31, was shot and killed on the evening of December 13, 1973, in San Francisco. She was walking south on Divisadero Street toward Haight Street just after 9:00 PM when a .32 caliber handgun was used to fatally wound her.

Her death was later linked to the series of racially motivated attacks known as the Zebra murders, a campaign of violence against white people in San Francisco between 1973 and 1974 carried out by a group described as black Muslims who followed the Nation of Islam. The Zebra attacks amounted to 20 incidents and 23 victims. Investigators later suspected J.C. Simon and Manuel Moore in connection with Marietta’s killing; Moore was eventually convicted for his role in the Zebra murders and is incarcerated in California.
