Sandra Stanek was 23 and working as a dancer at Dotty’s Body Shop in Fairview Heights, Illinois, when she was last seen on the evening of May 1, 1986. After finishing her shift she was observed getting into a vehicle with a man; that contact is the last confirmed sighting. Her car was later recovered, but that discovery did not produce any breakthroughs.

She was described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, 125 to 135 pounds, with long straight sandy blonde hair and brown eyes. Distinguishing marks included a large lower-abdomen scar from infant surgery, a Cesarean scar, a heart tattoo on a shoulder and another tattoo on her right forearm or elbow. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, Fairview Heights Police and Illinois State Police all investigated, but no public identification or description of the man seen with her has been released.
