On the morning of December 28, 2022, officers from the Crestview Police Department responded to a shooting at a residence on Nun Drive in Crestview, Florida. Inside the home they found 31-year-old Rictaysha Barnum with two gunshot wounds to the lower rib cage area. A gun was recovered between her legs with the slide locked to the rear; blood spatter was noted on the bottom bunk mattress and pillow, a bullet hole was visible through the TV, and the top bunk mattress had blood-soaked sheets though there was no pooling of blood beneath her body.
Rictaysha’s husband, 30-year-old Camden Tyre Barnum, was at the scene and was detained. He was transported to the Okaloosa County Jail and charged with murder. The arrest report says Camden admitted that the couple had been arguing throughout the night and that he attempted to leave the argument by moving between rooms while Rictaysha followed and continued confronting him; portions of his statement remain redacted. The Crestview Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are investigating, and the judge denied bond at Camden Barnum’s initial court appearance.
Was anyone in Crestview aware of ongoing domestic problems at this address or did neighbors hear disturbances that night?
