Antwain Jamar Hart, 31, of Umatilla, Florida, was fatally shot multiple times and found in his mother’s front yard on Merrell Avenue on November 8, 2022. He was transported to AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares but died en route. His 2022 white Jeep Cherokee, a rental, was reported stolen at the time of the killing and later recovered abandoned behind the First Church of God in Eustis, about 3.7 miles from the scene.

Investigators linked three suspects to the homicide: Undray Tony Benson, Marvin Ellison, and Deandre Anderson. Surveillance footage and phone records placed a rented white Mercedes connected to Ellison near both the murder location and where Hart’s vehicle was abandoned. Video showed items being moved from that Mercedes into an apartment leased by a relative of Benson; a search of the apartment uncovered illegal drugs and a 9mm handgun that matched the murder weapon. Authorities believe narcotics found in Hart’s vehicle were connected to the motive and that the three men acted together, possibly during a robbery attempt.

Benson was arrested about five months after the killing; Ellison and Anderson were later taken into custody. Benson has since been tried and sentenced, and the other two suspects are awaiting trial. Did anyone in the area see the Mercedes or the Jeep near Merrell Avenue on November 8, 2022?
