Messiah Devon Grier, 29, of San Antonio, Texas, was shot and killed on October 6, 2022, in Labelle, Florida. He had been in Florida working with a ServPro team on hurricane cleanup and was found in a pool of blood in the Port LaBelle Inn parking lot after an argument with a coworker, Vincent Harris, also from San Antonio. The argument reportedly turned physical before Harris shot Grier and fled the scene in a company van.

Authorities arrived around 7 a.m. and discovered Grier’s body. Harris was located hours later by the Glades County Sheriff’s Office on State Road 80 and taken into custody. He was charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence and is being held without bond. Friends and family remembered Grier as a kind, humble youth football coach with the SA Bears; his death has deeply affected his community.
